Some laws in Nigeria would make one wonder if one is still living in the days of our ancestors. With all the women right activism, one would say it is hardly working and women are still quite relegated to the background in every aspect.
Recently, Elizabeth Era, TV producer, and Empowerment personnel cried out at the ridiculous embarrassment she faced at the Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, all because she wore trousers to the office. She was told that women are banned from wearing trousers there.
In her words, she shared in dismay "Imagine the senseless law in Akwa Ibom state house of Assembly, that women wearing trousers are not allowed to enter the complex and offices. Absolute rubbish! "
She further more stated "Their men are the most irresponsible male species of humans in this country, yet they stop women from wearing trousers into their government offices!!!"
She also shared that the security insulted and abused her for her decent dressing "The most annoying part is that the security was calling me irresponsible (that his wife will never be allowed to wear trousers) for wearing a decent trouser and shirt into an office complex that is not a traditional shrine...hehehehe! Naija sha! "
Elizabeth Era had shared her post about her experience on various social networks and let's hope the issue is clarified, as Akwa Ibom is not known to be a Sharia State
