“He has returned to England to communicate all these to Chelsea. We just have to wait and see what Chelsea say in this regard.”
Al Ain van already boast Ghana star Asamoah Gyan among their ranks, as well as UAE favourite, Omar Abdulrahman.
Mikel is currently one of Chelsea’s longest serving players after first arriving from Lyn Oslo as a teenager in 2006, and is among just a handful of individuals still left over from Jose Mourinho’s first spell in charge.
Although rarely an automatic starter during his Chelsea career, the 28-year-old saw his playing time decrease dramatically in 2014/15 as the Blues romped to a first Premier League title in five seasons.
Mikel, who has made 224 appearances for the club in nine years, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cup titles, two League Cups, one Community Shield, one Uefa Champions League and one Europa League title.
