Gone are the days when Nigerian youngsters thought the only way to success was going to school and focusing on formal corporate jobs. Inspiringly, with the continuous rise of established entertainers in the Nigerian music industry, their incessant success has motivated other aspiring artistes to bank on the promise of a world of stardom through music.
Talent can be discovered at any time, and Ajayi Oluwasegun Emmanuel whose stage name is Emrys detected his in 2009. In a chat with Olori Wendy Blog, he shared that his moniker Emrys is cherished by him because it is the name of an ancient magician which he coined out of Emmanuel. He likewise shared that he took a step further in 2020 by going to the studio to record songs when his passion for music did not waver a year after he discovered his talent.
“I would classify my type of music as the new wave Afropop and Hip pop. I just enjoy vibing to any type of afro or pop beat I come across based on my mood and the sound,” Emrys said.
While most new artistes prefer to invest in their music business by featuring established artistes to boost their chances of fame, Emrys confidently has been featuring promising artistes.
“I featured upcoming artistes like myself in many of my previous projects and they were all good tracks.”
He also disclosed that he looks forward to working with Kiss Daniel and Dj Coublon.
Emrys has been recording his songs at GN Studio and aims to announce his presence in the music industry with some unique hits like “Damsel” featuring Seyi Sounds and Timi Burna. His entrance music “Damsel” is produced by award winning musician and producer, Guzlaw, who is the CEO of GN Studio.
Consequently, Emrys is bargaining on achieving success through his music platform just like the predecessors before him, of which some are now famous after risking educational alternatives for a life of fame and extravagance.
