A family in Ondo has been thrown into grief after it lost four of its members to food poisoning due to a meal of yam flour aka ‘amala’.
The meal was said to have been prepared by the wife and mother, identified as Mrs. Folorunso, after she bought the flour at the Isua Market.
A member of the family, one Adesina Ayodeji, is said to have stated yesterday that shortly after partaking of the meal, all nine members who ate it fell unconscious and had to be hospitalized.

The four family members lost their lives while being shuttled around hospitals and the remaining were said to have received a diagnosis from the Federal Medical Centre in Owo stating that the poison in the amala had damaged their kidneys and intestines.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo, has said that he is aware of the incident but hasn’t been officially briefed.
Ogodo said:
” I am aware of the incident by hearsay but I have not been formally briefed by the Divisional Police Station in Isua Akoko up till now.”
Four of the children and their father, Abiloye Folorunso, were said to have survived the unfortunate incident.
