Owolabi was remanded in prison custody when he appeared before the court.
The 24-year old suspect was arrested at 17, Ewa Eweng Street, Idimu, Lagos for allegedly breaking the door of a tenant, Mr Timothy Okorocha, and attempting to cart away his property.
Owolabi told the police at Idimu Division that his father is a senior civil defence officer and has placed a curse on him for an undisclosed offence before throwing him out of their home.
He said that since he left home and relocated to Lagos, his life has not been the same.
Owolabi said before he had problem with his father, he had dropped out of school when he was in JSS3 at Nishiba Grammar School, Idiaraba in Abeokuta , Ogun State, southwest Nigeria.
The suspect said when he left home and relocated to Lagos State, he went to learn how to repair generator but he could not complete the training.
The suspect said he believed that he had been possessed by evil spirits.
Luck ran out on Owolabi when he went to break into Okorocha’s apartment, pretending that he was sent by him to change his door keys.
According to Okorocha, when he was at his work place on the fateful day, he received a phone call from his neighbour, enquiring if he had asked Owolabi to change his door keys.
Okorocha said his neighbour told him that Owolabi told them at home that he sent him to change the keys to his house and was even demanding for tools from them, which he used to forcefully open his door.
Okorocha said he quickly returned home and caught Owolabi carting away his property.
He handed Owolabi over to the police and the suspect was charged to court.
When he was arraigned, Owolabi pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Owolobi was, however, remanded in prison custody when he could not perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 24 April.
