Bus Conductor Beats Up Policewoman, Almost Kill Her

A bus conductor, Tosin Ogunbiyi has been accused of beating up a policewoman identified as Sgt. Oluwatosin Yaya.

He appeared before an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday charged with breach of peace, conspiracy and assault.
The conductor and his driver now at large were said to have pounced on the policewoman as she was lawfully performing her duty.
The woman chased after them after they’d intentionally splashed dirty dirty water on her face. When she caught up with them, she placed an iron bearing nails on the vehicle’s tyres and that’s when they came down from the bus and beat her.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the accused caused the policewoman bodily harm and could have been beaten to death if not for the timely intervention of some policemen that arrived at the scene.
Olatunde said the driver ran into the vehicle and sped off, leaving his conductor behind.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Presiding over the matter, the Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum and the case was adjourned till March 20.
