Nigerian Music Legend, Raw Kimono Passes On
Reggae fans mourn the passage of Nigeria’s Reggae icon, Ras Kimono who passed on earlier today, Sunday, his death would be more than a blow to his immediate family, especially his children and wives- Sybil and Efe Okedi.
The musician was rushed to the Lagoon Hospital, in Ikoyi after he slumped yesterday, Saturday.
Confirming the death, the factional Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Tony Okoroji revealed that he had visited the legendary musician at the hospital and even shook hands with him while there.
The late Legendary reggae singer, Ras Kimono topped music charts in the late 80’s and 90’s with dancehall hits “Under Pressure”, “Rumba stylee” and many other hits at the peak of his career.
His style of music was significantly influenced by the hardship he experienced in his early life.
The late reggae music icon won several awards including the Nigeria Music Awards and Fame Music Awards amongst others.
He was married to Sybl, who relocated to the United States of America (USA) with him but did not return with him. Both had three female children together.
On his return, he found a good manager in Efe Okedi, who later fell in love with him and recently had a baby girl for him.
However, the third woman is unknown, but sources revealed Kimono had five children, all female, from three different women.
Ras Kimono passed on earlier today, Sunday at the Lagoon Hospital, Bourdillon, Ikoyi, Lagos. May his soul rest in peace!
