The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun has declared Friday, June 12 a public holiday to mark the 22nd anniversary of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election in the state.
The declaration notice is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa in Abeokuta.
Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, an indigine of the state, was widely believed to have won the 1993 presidential election but the poll was annulled by the then military government.
The Ogun government, therefore, urged residents to spend the day in peaceful celebration of the anniversary and to pray for the repose of the soul of late Abiola.
